No drop-out problem.
Hi guys this is my first post but I am not a newbie to bike mechanics and repairs.
Im putting an old hybrid back together. It cannot have a conventional drop-out it needs something more like a Shimano RD-tz50 - http://imp-rowery.pl/img/allegro/shimano_rd_tz50_h.jpg its the part that attaches to the frame that is causing me problems, I can't find a technical name for it or another derailleur that attaches to the frame like this. The rd-tz-50 is as basic as it gets, I'd rather something of higher quality. Any ideas of its actual name or if you can get an adapter kit or if there are other derailleurs out there with this type of attachment? Thanks in advance. Dan |
It's called a claw derailleur

Great, thanks mate, found an adapter to allow me to attach a normal dérailleur already.

Look here: http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/derai...ar.html#hanger They have an "Adapter Claw" available for $4. Also, Harris offers a Tourney Mega Range rd with the claw mount shown above on this page in the chart of the derailleurs they sell. |
