Ultegra 6700 right shifter not working

Earlier today I installed new handlebars on my bike. While putting the right ultegra shifter back on, a small part fell from the shifter. I am now unable to shift down. Each time I push the shift lever, it clicks but doesn't shift. I took the shifter apart and can't determine where this part goes. I've attached two pictures. Any advice would be appreciated.

it's best if you warranty it.

Shimano STI shifter internals are a can of worms. Best take it to your LBS assuming that's where you purchased to see if someone there might volunteer or warranty the part.

Late reply on this. I had the same issue and was able to get that piece back on. This holds the entire shift mechanism with a 3mm hex screw that can be seen in the back of the shifter. If this falls off, the mechanism is loose and you won't be able to shift down. To fix it, you need to remove the shifter, brake cables and front little plate of the shifter. Pull the lever all the way back and you will be able to see the end of the hex screw sticking out. This is where this plate sits. You then need a pair of tweezers to get this part in where the end screw sticking out. I used two 3mm hex wrenches, one placed on top of this place and the other behind the shifter to move the screw. It took some time, but with a little patience you can get it back in there. Make sure that the plate resides all the way in and it looks flat and it's not sticking out.
