best looking carbon 1 1/8'' spacers
I'm cutting down my fork and figured I'll add a little bling. I'm going with Ritchey WCS Carbon Headset Star Nut and wondering about the best looking carbon spacers. I want them plain(No manufacturer name). I had a Hope Head doctor expander. Pretty much worthless. You're compressing a 3/32" o-ring and relying on that to not move when you're snugging up your top cap.

How tight were you doing up the top cap to pull the expander up? It's not meant to be done up tight.
As for attractive headset spacers, I dunno how it is where you are, but carbon headset spacers are always available on eBay UK as Buy It Now items from some online shop or other.

I agree, the expander plug shouldn't have to withstand a great amount of tension. The recommended preload on most cartridge bearing headsets is only 4 to 8 inch- pounds and the most I've ever seen is 20 inch-pounds.
