Dura Ace SL-BS77 bar ends with Ultegra derailleurs

Hi, I'm rounding up parts to build my up my Quintana Roo frame to ride in the BRAG. Today I received my NOS Dura Ace 9-speed bar end shifters. I was very happy to get them until I read the instructions they said, "This shifting lever cannot be used with any rear derailleur other than the Dura Ace". I already have an Ultegra rear derailleur and 9-speed cassette. That is one reason I decided to do this build as a 9 speed instead of 10. Will this be a problem? When I started this I wanted to do it cheaply and mainly to use parts I alread had laying around. It is getting more complicated all the time. I might have been better off just buying a bike already built or buying an entire group set but I do enjoy shopping for parts and learning about mechanics. Anyway, I appreciate all the help I have already received and thanks in advance for all the help I'm sure you will continue to give me. I live in an extremely rural envirement so I don't have any cycling friends to learn from, in fact I don't know any other adult cyclist. So thanks again, not only for the help but for letting me be part of the club.

I'm using these shifters with a Deore XT M772 9 speed rear derailleur and it shifts like a dream. I don't think you'll have any problems.

No. This is Shimano scare tactics. All Shimano 9-speed shifters and derailleurs are 100% cross-compatible.

A couple things: when assembling the shifters (you have to take the shifter apart to install them on the handlebar), make sure the indexing disk goes back on in the correct orientation. The fat tab needs to point at right angles to the handlebar. Take a look at this PDF: https://techdocs.shimano.com/media/te...9830628723.pdf
Look at part #2, the "lever boss cover". It can fit on the mount 4 different ways, but only one is correct.

Also, when you are tightening the center screw, really tighten it down. Get the biggest screwdriver that will fit in the slot and go for it- I've never stripped one. If the screw comes loose, the "index/friction" switch can fall in between its two settings, damaging the shift mechanism.
