Cleaned freewheel (with ultrasonic) - is Tri Flow approapriate lubricant?

I thoroughly cleaned my old freewheel in an ultrasonic cleaner. It was so washed out, I could hear the ball bearings floating around (no lube). If I drop a bunch of Tri Flow in the seam on the back of the freewheel, should that be adequate for lube? Or do I need something thicker?

My favourite lube-cocktail is 50% Phil's Tenacious and 50% Tri-Flow. I use it for just about everything (except where grease is needed)

Yeah, I was thinking Phil's Tenacious might be suggested. Unfortunately, I don't have any handy. Are there multiple variations of Phil's Tenacious?

I've used straight Tri-Flow to lube numerous freewheels and freehubs over the years with good results. Flood the seam in the freewheel with Tri-flow and you should be good.

At work after i solvent tank the FW and blow it out with the air hose I'll "prime" the insides with Triflow. It sucks in and will travel all the way through quickly. Then I'll drip in a bit of Phil oil. While that's sucking in I'll go onto some other part of the service. It time i return to the FW and spin it. The dry sound, the Triflowed sound and the Philed sound all have their nature and confirm each step's completion. Andy.

Did you have to repeat applying Tri Flow frequently?

I just flooded it with Tri Flow. The ball bearing sound has dulled a little. I might place an order for Phil's, because I can probably find more uses for it.

By the way, I'm seeing $10 for a 4oz. bottle of Phil's oil. Is this a decent volume/price?

Yes, about once every year or two.

For freewheels I use 10w-30 or whatever motor oil I happen to have in the basement.
