Brakes for Shimano Alfine 11
I am rebuilding my old bike and need a new internal gear hub. I am considering to buy the Shimano Alfine 11. Unfortunatly my frame doesn't have mounts for disc brakes. Is it possible to use the Alfine 11 with other braking systems?
I am used to coaster brakes, so I would prefer that if possible.

If it's a coaster brake you want, you'll have to buy a coaster brake hub. The Alfine hubs are not available with a coaster brake, but the Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub is.
If you want to use the Alfine hub, rim brakes are your only option if your frame does not have disc caliper mounts.

Yea, No to Disc, No to Coaster Brakes , you still have Rim brakes as the practical brake choice.

That was the answers what I was afraid of, but thank you anyway. Just to cover all options: I assume the same applies for roller brakes?

Roller brakes don't mount to the same hub mount as a disc brake rotor, and I don't know if the Alfine 11 is available with a roller brake mount. Most of them mount to disc brake bosses on the frame and fork, but I believe they're still available with a band-on mount to allow them to be fitted to a frame with no disc bosses.

Sturmey Archer's 8 speed is offered in a Drum Brake Version, as is the 3 & 5 speed..
the 8 speed is 1:1 ist gear, all others are overdrive , so You'd use a small Chainring on the Cranks .
Im using SA Drum Brake hubs [minus the IGH] the reaction Strut strap , is like that of a Coaster brake.
