Braze-On Front Derailleur Adapters. Universal?

Hi all, just a quick query. As i understand it, the adapters referred to in the title are used for attaching a braze-on front mech to a frame which is meant for clamp derailleurs.
For my Campagnolo front mech, do I need a campy brand adapter? Because shimano is cheaper, and brand-x or origin8 are cheaper again.
Are the adapters universal?
Thanks in advance!

There now is a meeting of the minds on braze on front derailleurs since actual braze on fittings
became brand neutral

Yep gathered that much. But other than that the brand shouldn't matter?

I hate to say anything about Campagnolo with certainty. I would doubt that even they would go off on their own on something like this. It would mean that frame manufactures would have to make special frames for Campagnolo. Problemsolver is the source for misfits. I sure an e-mail to them would clear up any questions.

You mean the braze-on FD interface standard, or whatever you want to call it.

Yes.

A clamp on is a better deal IMHO. That means you can adj the height if you want to change chain ring sizes.

What the OP is asking about is a clamp-on adapter that takes a braze-on derailleur. It's the same as a built in clamp and offers the same adjustability.

the adapter combo, FD can be rotated, by wedge-shims between the parts, to alter that angle too..

Relative to seat tube angle..

Thanks for the replies. I assumed that it would be universal (so all braze ons could attach to all frames), but wasn't sure.
thanks again!
