Alright so in the past few weeks I've burned through approximately 5 tubes and 2 tires. I blew two tubes last night (as a result of the tire) and am just completely frustrated. I will describe the problem with the tires further. What appears to happen is that I've gotten small holes and sort of a tear look where the lip of the rim meets the tire. Could I be doing this with something like skidding if I don't have my air pressure high enough (lumpy roads so it's a little low occaisionally). I can find any obvious burrs or anything on my rim but I was wondering if you guys knew of something telltale that I should look for.

Sounds like you have been getting pinch flats from too low air pressure. What size tires? How much pressure? How much do you weigh? Do the holes in the tube look like a snakes bites? Perhaps the low tire is tearing when it bottoms-out.

I weight 135 (so i'm a little skinny). 27 with 1 1/4" tires. I'm sure about the airpressure, I've definitely run it lower for longer periods of time though (I don't have a gauge on my pump). The hole is just a single small hole. This time it runs parallel to the curve of the rim.

Seriously, your brake pad is touching the tire, there is either a small hop or wobble in the wheel so it wears through the hole in just one spot.

I'm going with your explanation cause yes, there's black crap from my brake pad on it. Thanks (no thanks to myself either), what's weird is I had previously adjusted my brake pads but it was literally 2 months before I ever got a hole in my tire. Maybe it got knocked out of alignment or something along the way there. Oh well, I guess it comes with the territory.

Nope, not that I can remember, but when it went flat I was in the bike lane along side a 4 lane road so it was kind of noisy so I didn't even hear it go flat. My bike has a fair amount of noise emanating from it anyways (loose shifter rattling, freewheel, fenders all add to a significant amount of noise) so I never heard anything, I'll be adjusting that sucker down for sure tomorrow.
