Rare hub - snapped axle - where to get a replacement?
The axle in my rear wheel hub snapped and needs to be replaced. The hub is an early generation of shimano 105 (FH-R105) with a 6 speed suntour freewheel fitted on it. It is a fairly rare hub.
Is it possible to replace the axle with any generic 6 speed axle or does it need to be an axle from the same model? Is it likely that a high street workshop is going to have a replacement?
Thanks

I'd be surprised if a regular 137mm axle with 10x1 threading didn't work. VeloBase doesn't note anything special in that regard: https://www.velobase.com/ViewComponen...110&AbsPos=200

Any axle that is the same length and thread pitch should work. I would think it should be fairly easy to find. It's possible a "brand name" axle would be tougher than a generic one ... not sure.

you need a 10x1mm axle. If you want to retain the q/r, you'll need this one most likely. https://www.niagaracycle.com/categori...-10x1x137mm-qr Your hub isn't rare; it's Shimano 105. (Which is a good thing)

Thanks a lot guys. It helped me a lot. This link bellow says that the rear spacing is 126mm. Would a 137mm axle fit?
