Question for owners of Harbor Freight ultrasonic cleaner
I have searched through the forums and not found an answer to my question.
I just picked one up yesterday and noticed while reading the reviews that one person suggested sealing the gap between the stainless steel basin and the plastic top to prevent any moisture from entering and causing problems when you tip it over to empty.
I'm just wondering if anyone has done this or if it is wholly unnecessary? I'm excited to go through a bunch of old dirty components and clean up the ones I'm going to keep.

I've had one for three years at least, and never did this. I have the 2.5L version.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

I have one too. Read the same review you read suggesting sealing, bought some $3 silicone tube two years ago to do this, but never came around to it. Been using the cleaner without issues for a while. Maybe one day, I'll come around to sealing it.

I don't tip mine to empty it -- just bail it out with a tall shot glass until the liquid is low enough to sop up with a paper towel.

We have one at work. It is not sealed. The workers do not take any special care filling, using or emptying. It is about 2 years old now and still works.They are so cheap, when it does die, it is paid for many times over.

The r applicable review I read was not about tipping it over to empty. It was the condensation that builds up during use (especially when heated) escaping into the space right under the rim where it could then short the circuitry inside the unit.
