Rim Tape Won't Stick

Qick question. I have the silver type of Mavic Open Pro rims. The rim tape will not stick to them. Am I doing something wrong? They seem too smooth for anything to stick to them. Please help.

Are you using velox rim tape? It may not stick when the tire is not mounted. but if you keep the tape in place and install your tires/tubes and pump it up, the tube keeps it in place
