Front derailleur hits seat tube

Hello again friends.

This time we have a front derailleur issues. I've finally gotten around to installing my trick Parlee front der clamp.

Here's the spec: parlee z5 frame, SRAM force 50/34 crank with BB30, SRAM force front derailleur braze-on.

I am attempting to replace the SRAM front der adapter with the Parlee clamp I've had lying around.

The issue: the front derailleur gets within 1 millimeter of the seat tube when there is no tension on front and largest cog in rear. But when shifting to big ring in front, the front der swings into the seat tube.

This same exact derailleur works fine with the SRAM braze-on adapter and does not hit the seat tube.

I've played with der height and angle but there's seems to be no way this derailleur will keep from hitting the seat tube. It seems the only way would be to move the right side of the crank outward at least 2-3 mm.

Could it be that the BB30 narrows the overall width of the chain line, or that this setup simply won't work with the parlee clamp? As always thanks in advance.

There is your solution. Obviously the "trick" Parlee clamp won't do the trick.

the parlee braze on adapter is not very good IMO. flexy and it tends to slip over time. the price you pay for lightweight

Yes, not so trick if it doesn't work

it's odd these things aren't actually universal like they state. Or more accurately, I guess it's technically universal but odd that it doesn't work in what I would think is a fairly common setup.

Not everything is a good idea. I've used Shimano and Campy clamp adapters and they always work and the weight is so low (~35 grams in 35 mm)) that I can't see how you could save much with a boutique one. I have used Nashbar's house brand adapter for 28.6 mm seattubes since Shimano didn't make one that size and it worked well.

No real issue. I'll just go back to my SRAM braze-on adapter. The parlee clamp was included when I bought my z5 a few years ago but I didn't use it. I just got around to trying it and noticed it won't work without the Low limit stop gouging into the frame.

it's not usable on this setup. I'm surprised there isn't more noise from others having the problem.

Maybe the overall width of non-BB30 bottom bracket moves the chainline outward and eliminates the issue?

It's trying to make its own clearance ,(Metal frame?) go with it and make the Dent Bigger .
