9 speed Gear shift levers to fit 24mm bar diameter

Hello,

I bought these handlebars: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/380516561...84.m1497.l2649 with the following dimensions: Width 42cm C-C, Centre Diameter 31.8mm, 170mm Reach, 24mm Diameter at ends of bar.

These are to replace the standard bars on a 2012 charge scourer which has the following feature set:

Features of the Charge Scourer 2012
Frame: Alloy, DB tubing
Fork: Alloy 700c, straight blade, disc
Chainset: FSA Tempo compact 50/34
Bottom Bracket: FSA Square taper, sealed
Pedals: Wellgo Alloy trekking
Front Derailleur: Shimano Sora
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Acera, 9 speed
Shifters: Shimano Acera, 9 speed
Cassette: Shimano HG20, 11-34t
Chain: YBN S9 CR
Rims: Alex DP17
Tyres: Continental Contact 700x28c
Hubs: Shield disc, looseball
Brakes: Shimano BR-M416 cable disc
Brake Levers: Pro-Max XL-91
Brake Rotors: 160mm
Handlebar: Shield Urban low riser, 680mm wide
Stem: Shield, 31.8mm
Grips: New' Charge Griddle lock-on
Headset: FSA No.8, Integrated
Saddle: Charge Spoon
Seat Post: Shield, 2 bolt

I am going to fit some 31.8mm (https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tektro-te...bar-prod25061/) brake levers but am having trouble finding what gear shift levers could be used. Can anyone recommend some gear shift levers for this setup?

thanks,

A bar end shifter in the front end?. time trial kits do that on the front of aero bars..

I still say interruptor levers, kludged as the only brake lever.. is not safe,

in the long run..

I'd tend to agree , but those specific levers in link appear to have a pivoting housing stop; perhaps this will enable him to avoid the cable stress fracture problem common to the usual design?

Any rate. I'd get plug in TT style reverse brake levers on the tips of the horns.
Then use a paul thumbies style adapter to mount a 9spd downtube shifter on the center/flat area.

brake levers

shift levers
https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Dura-D...t+shift+levers

here are shift mounts for 23.8

shift mounts for 31.8

oh yeah, you also need to swap out your disk brakes with road disks since the TT brake levers are road style cable pull. or buy 'travel agent' cable pull adapters

such is the price of putting bullhorns where they aren't meant to be....
seriously reconsider this project, the bars really aren't meant for a hybrid bike hence all the crazy adapters needed to force compatibility

OK you say Tomahto .. brake in the end of the cow horn , thumbie for the shift lever

VS gear lever in the end ,and maybe something like Dia Compe's Guidonnet brake levers ,

wrapping around the forward curve..

OOdles of people want to stick cross brake levers in the center, was in OP's post,
that's what these are https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/tektro-te...bar-prod25061/
never seen any of those, so I have to Guess.

given that setup, wouldn't a MTB flat bar with bar ends allow identical hand positions as the bullhorns while reusing all existing control components?

I take back all previous advice
just put these on your existing handlebars, it'll make them act just like bullhorns but without all the pain of redoing your controls
