Stripped boss in lower disk brake mount in the fork
I have stripped out the boss on the lower disk brake boss on my fork. I am thinking about tapping up to the next size but have never tapped anything before and I hear that aluminum is tricky. Is this even a good idea? Any suggestions for solving this problem? Thanks.

The disc tabs arent supposed to be threaded in the first place...

I am talking about the hole that the bolt goes into on the fork, not the hole on the caliper itself that the bolt goes through before it goes into the fork. Am I missing something here?

As for the problem, I dont have a clue, but I tihnk for a job like this I'd hesitate to do it myself unless I was 100% confident in my tapping ability etc... losing hte fron caliper would generally not be a good thing.

I think what you need to do (or have someone do for you) is install a heli-coil into the stripped bolt hole. You tap the thread out to a larger size, as required by the coil you are using, then tread the steel coil in. Good as new. Possibly better.

Thanks for the info. I actually called Answer products and they said to just send in the casing for replacement and some longer bolts.
