What crank bearings do I need?
This is my crank specs I found online.
Prowheel Alloy 335P6 28X38X48 170mm I have the denali road bike and after 1600 miles the crank bearings are going out. I want to order new bearings now to have them ready when the old ones get to loose to use. Can anyone here tell what bearings I need? I dont have a lot of knowledge with bike parts. Thanks. |
Cannot say without being there .. You got the Bucks to buy a whole new crankset and it's BB as a package deal?
take what you have out... with the tools you bought for that purpose.. and Measure it's over all length , If its Square taper type , there may be a cartridge UN type BB that is similar, But As I am guessing blind , I have made a shot in the dark. I dont have a lot of knowledge with bike parts. I've Never had to work on those Wally World type bikes , (every part chosen for lowest cost) |
Yea, im trying to keep this a cheap diy job. And I didnt want to remove the crank before I had to.
I was going to order the little tools and bearings at the same time just to have them when that time comes. I didnt want to make a thing of it. this bike is just to tie me over until I get a better bike. |
never mind i think i found the answer from a youtube video. guy was changing his old crank and i seen it had 9 bb's in the bearing case.
seen some on amazon for a few bucks. one of the reviews mentioned the size and it matches up to my crank tube. I'm taking a shot for a few bucks. beats paying to shops and hassle of taking the bike there. |
A typical old style BB takes 11 1/4" balls per side.
Some cheaper ones used retainer bearings with 9 balls. A bit of shopping and I think you can find 11 ball retainers. Most of us don't use the retainer. Fresh grease holds the new balls in place. |
