Broken Dura-Ace 7800 shifter?

Broken Dura-Ace 7800 shifter?
Hello all,
I am posting this to see if I actually have broken my shifter... my guess is I have. Pretty simple, I had my bike leaning on a fence and my sister decided to feel how light it was. As she lifted it my shifter caught the fence and pulled the wrong way. Now it sits towards the outside of the bike and it will not shift either up or down. Luckily (I mean 'luckily' as sarcastically as I can) it was the left hand so I have to stay on the small cog and the bike is ride able. At first I thought the shift cable was dislodged but I doubt it because it seems like I have lost that minor ratcheting feeling good shifters have. What do you all think? I have been shopping for a pair but students cannot afford those prices!
Anyone trying to part ways with anything compatible? I have heard the Ultegra 6700 or 6800 is more durable but doesn't shift as crispy. To be honest, I just miss being able to ride with no issues!

Did the whole shifter just rotate on your bars or is the body still in place and the lever hyper extended.
If it is that the whole body rotated then it probably is just a cable tension issue, maybe the cable broke or pulled free from your deraileur.
Does it click when actuated?
The head of the cable may have popped off....

I'm not familiar enough to speak with any degree of certainty, so keep that in mind.
It might (if you're lucky) be analogous to a dislocated shoulder, in that the lever was forced past a stop, and if you force it back it's be OK again.
You might ride town the hill and check with Dave at Winooski Cycle, and let him take a look. You have nothing to lose except the climb back up, and the bike is in low gear anyway. If you do see Dave, tell him that Francis from New York swore that he had magic hands and could fix it in 2 minutes flat.
