Here we see the suckiness inherent to the system. I come across this infuriating behaviour on something like 10% of bikes with the ST-*700 shifting. Haven't got to the bottom of it because it happens despite ticking all the boxes.

Okay, at least you don't have the extra friction of aero cables... but due to the short pull of S10, a die-drawn cable to reduce friction might not be enough; you could try upgrading the housing to Alligator Ilink or something, since 'compressonless' housing actually isn't and segmented housing performs better.
