Pairing Non-SLR Brake Levers with SLR Brake Calipers

What's y'all's experience been? I'm contemplating using a set of Dia-Compe Gran-Compe 202 brake levers, which don't have internal return springs FYI, with Shimano CX-70 brake calipers. Mo' mush?

Should work ok if the levers move freely and don't bind and the cables are in good condition. The brake caliper return springs alone should be adequate.
