Nexus 8 internal parts source?

I like my Nexus 8 I've had for about 6 years, but last year it failed, locked up, and stranded me.
I'm a heavy rider, but keep higher rpms and never stand on it. I had done the biannual oil dip and bearing grease, weeks and a couple hundred miles before, and it just started clicking and then locked. My confidence in it is gone.

I opened it and one of the pawls had a piece cracked off it, which grabbed and destroyed the retainer rings, and locked the carrier to the hub. There was very little apparent damage to the internal ratchet of the hub, which is milled directly out of the hub aluminum. I thought I could just get some new pawls and rings and put it back together.

Those parts are apparently not available, except salvaged from other dead nexus hubs. Bummer.
I put it back together with 3 pawls and fixed the rings and it rides, but I have no confidence in it.

My local LBS (performance and consumer) cannot locate identify even the complete carrier from the Shimano catalog.

The feature I really liked was the ability to up-shift at a stop.

If the new roller clutch version is less likely to fail I will consider it, but I'd like shimano to give me some purchase credit on this old one. A I have 50 year old Sturmey's that I got for free that still work perfectly.

On second thought, I think I may just lace up a sturmey and put a second ring on the crank for a Fixus 6. ;)

Here is a good tip to find hard to find parts, components, older technology or just something not very common here in NA...Many of dicountinued components are still sold as a current models in many countries all around the world. Even with shipping charges it may well be worth to purchase there, or if you know someone there it may be even easier.
Just a quick example Nexus 7 parts in PLN /Polish money/ About 3PLN =$1US

Problem solved.

I just found a NOS wheelset with the newer rollerclutch hub for a decent price. maybe they got it right that time around.

The old pawl hub was SG-8R20
The newer roller-clutch hub is SG-8R31.

What a great find. Do they have parts for an 8-speed? Do they ship internationally?

I didn't digg too deep, but I saw some parts for 8 on the same page I believe.
You can use http://translate.google.com/?vi=c&hl=en , put the link in and it will translate most if not all of the info on the website.
You have to contact them directly to ask for shipping outside of Poland. Most young people speak English so it shouldn't be a big problem. And remember that there is no such a thing as useless "store/company policies"...If you nice enough they will work with you to make you happy.
I will add some links if I find some more about Nexus 8 parts.
