Opinion on Campy front dérailleur,

Having an discussion with a friend. If you had to choose between two front dérailleurs and looking for strength/durability not weight which one would you choose between a Centaur and a Chorus. In my opinion, the Centaur would be a better choice, stronger alloy than Chorus but of course heavier. His bike mechanic told him that a Chorus is more durable. I have my doubt !!!

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

There are other differences which probably don't affect duability either way. But Centaur uses an all steel outer derailleur, while the Chorus is steel with an aluminum outer plate. Based on general (not specific) experience, I'd venture that the Centaur is more durable, especially if owned by someone less than scrupulous about chain rum on the cage.

You do understand that whatever the differences actually are, they're more by of way of bar be material than meaningful in the real world.
