Labeling of Rema patch kits

Just picked up a "private label" patch kit from my LBS that contained a few REMA brand patches in it. I noticed that they were marked as being made in W. Germany. Out of curiosity, are they still labeled as such, or did they sell me some left over Cold War era relics?

Rema is German company, and most of their stuff is made there. As for the Reagan era reference to West Germany, probably a failure to "correct" low priority printed matter.

I had suspected that it was just my LBS cleaning out the junk drawer.

Might be that too, but I was a Rema wholesaler for almost 30 years and in all that time, they never changed anything, except changing from a pressed metal box to a plastic one, but still green. I'm not sure that reunification would have been enough for them to revisit the text.

FWIW the Rema patches I bought last year are labeled "made in Germany" both on the box and the patches themselves... no "W" or "West" anywhere...

So they did update the text, now the next question is when.

Another data point. I have a cardboard box of 100 Rema patches bought about 4 or 5 years ago and it says "Made in Germany" and no "W" or "West" anywhere on mine either.

Awesome!

I hear the proposed new name for that area is Bavarian Putinville...
