Campy Pro-Fit cleat bolts too long.
I inherited a set of Chorus Pro-Fit pedals with barely used cleats and was curious if any other type of cleat bolts will work fine with these pedals? The "short" 12.5mm Campy bolts are just a bit too long on my Mavic Avenir shoes and start to leave little deformed dimples in the sole you can feel on the back two bolts even with a thicker set of washers. I have a set of phillips drive bolts that are just a hair shorter than the Campy ones (~11-12mm) off an old pair of shoes and should work lengthwise, but didn't know since the head on the Campy bolts is so much different.
Or in the long run am I wasting my time and should just go get some new Shimano pedals or something

Grind down the bolts taking care to clean up that first thread. Use Look pedals instead. Use different shoes with thicker soles... Andy.

Shortening the current bolts with a file is easy and fast.

Thanks everyone. I was having a bit of a problem with the Phillips bolts I mentioned holding the cleat and clipping out. I picked up some decent thickness anti- skid stuff for stairs and cut a couple of pieces for the cleats. Amazingly that took up that extra 0.5mm length problem with the Campy bolts. Went for a few short rides to get an initial cleat position and didn't notice the bolt ends pushing into the sole like before. If I notice a problem again I'll file off a mm or so.
