    loose BB-30

I took my bike (2012 supersix)into the shop where I bought it after around 200 miles with the bottom bracket creaking, After they snugged it up it was fine. Today about 100 after it was tightened, it started creaking again. They told me that the BB-30 it famous for this and they might have to put locktite on it to keep it tight. Is this normal?

Yes. Bb30 systems are very prone to creaking and play due to inconsistent tolerances and poor resistance to water and other contamination. They need regular cleaning and reinstallation.

Loctite is the accepted best practice for BB30 installation. The shop was remiss for not reinstalling the BB with Loctite on the spot. Go back with it and insist on a proper installation with Loctite. You won't be happy until you do.

Thanks for the info. The bike is never used on rainy days and I even slow down for standing water. He told me they would need the bike for a couple of days(they are busy) is why he just tightened it. I will have to invest in some more tools I guess.

If you do it yourself, you should know a few things: Cheap puller and press tools for removal and installation are available on ebay. Kind of an amateur approach , but very effective. Also make sure you use the prescribed Loctite bedding compound, not the usual adhesive products.
