Seat tube 30.0 clamp size 29.8

Anyone know if a Thomson 29.8 collar will go OK on a 30.0 OD seat tube? Specifically my Soma Bside v2.

I don't know if 30.0 mm is a nominal size or exact but Surly sells a seat post clamp collar advertised as 30.0 mm: Small Parts | Parts and Accessories | Surly Bikes

I'd call or e-mail Thomson to get their take on the suitability.

Bicycle tubing used to be imperial sized, ie. 1-1/8", 1-1/4" etc. The metric sizes were nominal sizes based on rounded off conversions. However it seems that the genie is out of the bottle, and bike companies now feel free to use any OD tubing they wish w/o regard to the consequences.

I'd measure accurately and use a clamp made to fit if one exists.

Thomson recommended not stretching a 29.8 so I have ordered a Salsa 30.0, would be nice if they were a little more standard on tube sizing.
