Question about UG/HG freehub
Please clear something up for me: A UG/HG 7-speed freehub will not accept an 11-tooth CS cog (highest gear) but will accept a 12- or 13-tooth cog with no problems. Is that correct? Thanks for any input, as usual.

It's been a while...
But I believe it's about the lockring. For 11T you need a smaller diameter lockring, and a body that has internal threads. Some bodies were made with both outside and inside lockring threads. If your body has internal threads, just find the correct lockring and you should be good to go.

My freehub has internal and external threads and were designed for 7-speed UG or HG cassettes. I have been using six HG cogs with a threaded 14-T UG cog, mainly because I had these parts on hand. I'll avoid the CS 11 T cog with the smaller diameter lockring. I'll install a 12-28 or 13-28 7S HG. Thanks much for the input and the link.
