10 speed SRAM Force WiFLi Rear Derailleur can I use 11 speed brifters?

I have a 2009 Fuji SST frame I was building with 10 speed Sram components.

I am near the position to step up and secure brifters for this frame, and find that new ten speed parts have not really come down in price as I expected.

I still need brifters, chainrings (52/36 mid compact), chain, cassette, and wheels. Can I switch and go with 11 speed parts at this point, using the already acquired 10 speed front and rear derailleurs?

SRAM 10s and 11s components are totally compatible, no problems.

e_guevara,

Thanks for the reply. I just found this link, and they rate the compatibility of Sram 10 & 11 speed components - A very interesting read, seems some changes are as good as the moving to the new group set...
It works! We test SRAM Red backwards compatibility - VeloNews.com

This was also a good bit of background reading on the Cervelo forums

I was actually thinking of moving to 11s as well. I already have 11s compatible wheels and had the chance to acquire Red22 shifters at a discount. I've also read the VeloNews article several times already to plan my upgrade route. But the advantages of 11s are not that much for me to make the leap. I have two bikes on 10s, and having several 10s replacement cassettes and chains means they (the parts) are going to be next to useless when I go to 11s. I also like the option of being able to change just the wheelsets (with the proper sprockets on them) between the two bikes (climbs vs. flats).

Go with the shifters and Yaw FD first. Best upgrade route. The FD doesn't have to be the "22" version. Then go buy the new Exogram crankset to further improve shifting performance (different ramp and pin timings versus the old cranksets).

Best of luck on the upgrade.

I understand the exogram rings, shift better than the lighter weight Praxis' 52/36. But not certain about price.

Thanks

I end up finding a new TurnZayante 30mm Hollow Forged crankset & English threaded bottom bracket with 52-36 chainrings on craigslist. The Turn Zayante, bottom bracket, and chain rings were less expensive than the Red Sram crank with the 110BCD 52-36 chainrings. The Turn 30 mm spindle is massive, and makes the Force crank look very insignificant when the two are compared.

I am also building a Javelin Narni frame, and the Force Cranks has a home. I wanted 167.5
Turn Zayante crankset with 52-36 but currently they do not have the 167.5 length available for her bicycle, but price wise it would be better than the others on the market. Maybe Praxis Works needs a few more requests for the 167.5 length cranks?
