Small, light porteur rack for Brompton?
Hello
Since no one seems to sell one, I'm thinking of going to a fablab and use a 3D printer to build an adapter to hook up a small porteur rack on a Brompton. Here's the idea: Alex Wetmore is always busy with something? » Blog Archive » Seasons Speeding Tikit Porteur
That way, I can carry boxes or non-Brompton bags like on a Tern/Dahon:

The Kanga rack above is OK, but I find its base too small to carry much. Does someone know of a place where I could order one that's larger at the base, preferably in Europe?
Thank you.

If you find one let us know. I have yet to figure out a way to mount a decent rack on bike that doesn't have braze on mounts. And one that likely extends beyond the wheel base is a bit extreme. I would check Indian, Thailand makers it seems they put a lot more on bikes and scooter than seems possible.

Any frame builder or brazing shop can make the right rack for you. Rather than print it, consider using their services. You will love it every time you see it. I know Johnny Coast is willing to do this type of work in New York City, but I'm not certain who would do it in Paris.

Incidently, maybe one of the Klickfix adapters could be screwed onto the Brompton frame:
Rixen & Kaul, KLICKfix Adaptersysteme Fahrradzubehör, Solingen, Taschen, Körbe, Werkzeug
---
Edit: And strangely, KlickFix seems to have built one for Dahon a few years ago:

We are back to the DIY Fabrication solution .. Hiring out custom work.
I mentioned before Modifying an older Steel tube Brompton Bag support rack ..
step 1 was having the old bag support frame in hand.
the new Lighter ones are nylon and aluminum tubing, joined by pop-rivets .
certainly possible to have someone fabricate an aluminum (or stainless steel) tube piece to work.. then
Replace the Pop-rivets joining it to the Nylon bottom ant top pieces ..
Glasgow 'B' dealer sells a 2 bag Pannier rack Mod , who has done just that.
I believe the bolt spacing / head tube mounting fitting, is different on the Brompton & Da Hon.
so a small piece of steel to screw into the B front , which is threaded in the DH specifications would
logically, adapt the KF bracket to work.
.. seems Germans still make things , in country..
Mssr Singer is certainly famous .. though his name on the company may have out-lived his mortality.
