Sansin RE 60 hubs, worth rebuilding?

I just bought home a 1988ish Miyata 615 with Sansin RE 60 hubs. The rear hub is a 40 hole and the front is a 36. They need new grease, at the minimum. The do roll smoothly and quietly.

I know Sansin was a quality producer who also built Suntour hubs under an agreement. The Miyata catalog says these are sealed bearing.

How should I proceed to service these?

"Sealed" was often used to mean they had a dust cover and possibly a rubber seal ring. It did not usually mean sealed cartridge bearings. I expect these are standard cup-and-cone and require one or two cone wrenches to open up, possibly new bearing balls and some suitable grease. If you are familiar with Shimano hubs, these should be serviced just like them.

Correct - often the term used was "sealed mechanism." Google overhaul hub, refer to the parktool or Sheldonbrown results 1st. You'll know soon enough if they are cartridge bearings or conventional. if the former just search for overhaul cartridge hub bearing instead.

If these just need cleaning and adjustment and you can do yourself you will be in just a couple of bucks, way cheaper than replacing wheels and you will keep the original look too.
