I've had this for about 35 years. I know at least one person here who will remember it very well.

I never use it. Should I sell it on ebay? Send it to a bike museum? Something else?

I'd offer it to C&V or to Classic Rendezvous. It would make for a nice display at a show, along with other classic tools and spare spread out with the right bike. But I never trusted these gages much and denoting minor differences of pressure is hard to read. Andy.

By the way, I tested the pencil gauge yesterday. It still works fine!

That's a 1st generation of that gauge, and you still have the original box after something like 35 years ---- amazing.

But the foam padding in the box disintegrated. I want my money back!

And even more miraculous, the box still has the Yellow Jersey price tag ($10.00) and under the gauge was the cash register receipt: $10.40 with tax!

They were cheap, worked well, and lasted a long time. Compare that to the modern concept of making expensive stuff that doesn't work well and doesn't last.

Well, $10 in 1979 wasn't particularly cheap for a tire gauge. Gas was about $.50/gallon and I bought a nice new car for $7200 that year.

I still have mine, too. It rests, with its metal clip, in my apron pocket; a little piece of vintage 'cycle flair' that still works and gathers comments every time I use it.

I have one similar to this. Got it 30 years ago and don't think I ever used it. They go for $13 on Amazon

But in all fairness, These may still be in service, but, based on the condition, were barely used in that time.

So the offer still stands, but to collect, the wrenches have to show some mileage.

I'll be honest; these wrenches are in service, and were pulled from their place on my bench for the photo. If you're looking for rounded flats and other distortion, well... that's not the case with these.

If more 'seasoned' wrenches show themselves, then award your prize to them and their Owner. Your choice...

Perhaps you underestimate the quality of your own wrenches. Assuming they were made of suitably good steel, properly heat treated and used by a mechanic with decent skills, they shouldn't be to badly beaten up or distorted even if used with regularity.

I have a bad shoulder, so I try to avoid patting myself on the back. But, yes those cone wrenches were built to last. Usually the only indication of wear and use is flaking of chrome at the high stress points on the slot.
