Shimano Crankset compatibility 10sp/11sp?
Just curious, I understand the 10sp/11sp chain difference but are the newer cranksets compatible with either 10sp or 11sp?

Yes, generally they are. Many have used 10s cranksets on an otherwise 11s drivetrain with no problems. It is less common to hear about 11s cranksets on 10s drivetrains, but I know there are some of them there.
However, chainrings on 11s cranksets are generally closer to each other (smaller spacing) due to the 11s chain being narrower than a 10s. Using a 10s crankset with an 11s chain might affect front shifting a little - the ramps/pins on the rings might not catch the chain properly. But as I've previously said, it hasn't been a problem for a lot of people who have tried the combo.
