You can't. All Octalink bottom brackets are sealed cartridges. Your FC-6500/6503 crank requires a 109 mm spindle for a double and a 118 mm for a triple and that's the only two lengths road Octalinks were available in.

There was an Ultegra version (BB-6500) and a 105 version (BB-5500) but only the BB-5500 is still commercially available. You can use either but would have to find a BB-6500 NOS or on E-bay. There was a Dura Ace BB-7700 Octalink but these are quite rare, expensive and require routine maintenance.

The 105 Octalink bottom brackets (V1 type) in your two Amazon links are fine. The Jenson link is to an Octalink design (V2) used only for MTB cranks and one low line road crank. It will not work with your Ultegra crank.

Don't forget to buy the special tool to install your new bottom bracket. I believe Park tool's BBT-18 is the one you need:

Thanks for helping me! both of you
Now im almost ready for Rosarito Ensenada trip

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001A0...=SS115&simLd=1

I think thats the correct tool.. But ive never installed a sealed bearing before id appreciate if you can explain me the purpose of the bbt-22 and the bbt-18. The 18 looks like an exterior wrench key do i need it along witb the 22?

Different tools for different bottom brackets, but they do the same thing. When you order the bottom bracket, just make sure you get the right tool for your particular bottom bracket. They've changed the interface over the years.

No special tool is needed. The standard Park BBT-22 cartridge bottom bracket tool fits all of the 5500-/6500 Octalink bbs. The only Park version that won't work is the first model BBT-2 which wasn't bored deep enough the clear the larger diameter spindle. The revised BBT-2 does work.

I should clarify - I made an (perhaps a bad) assumption that he has no bottom bracket tools at all.

Good call, you were right. I assumed (obviously incorrectly) that since this was a replacement bottom bracket, he has at least a common bb tool.
