Sam rear shifter not shifting
I've had this bike for a little over a year. It has sram force and I use it for racing. I've crashed twice on it and half of the derailleur cage is replaced with a shimano one.
So here's my problem. When I downshift to a bigger sprocket , half the time the index position doesn't match the chain position on the cassette. I'd have to shift down one more and up again to get to the gear I want. It happens more easily when im putting more load on the cassette. This issue came out of the blue when I last switched out the chain and cassette.
It's a relatively new bike with internal cable routing. I lubed the cable and readjusted the derailleur screws and tension but the problem is still there. I have a nagging suspicion it's the drivetrain and not the derailleur. I happen to have an extra cassette a d chain so ill try that when o get a chance But what's your take?

Have the alignment of your frame's hanger checked with a professional tool, and replace the entire rear derailleur with a new one.

It's a new hanger. And the issue came up long after I last crashed it. Only when I switched out the cazsette. I've brought it to the shop and they couldn't see anything wrong.

A new hanger mounted to a bent dropout is still a problem. And just because you managed to make a damaged and cobbled-together derailleur work well enough with a worn cassette doesn't mean it's going to continue functioning that way when you start swapping out for new and properly specified parts.

"...the issue came up long after I last crashed it." It could have easily suffered non-crash (think transport) damage which went unnoticed.

i switched out the hanger, readjusted the rear derailleur, and it's working just fine now. I remember now, I had my second crash on this bike, and went to the shop to have the hanger straightened out. I guess they either didn't do a good job at it, or the aluminum has a memory, but it was off by maybe 0.5-1 mm, with a slight twist, and I guess that was enough to throw it off.
