Clarify patch process?

Clarify patch process?
OK so I have a patch kit and if I ever have to use it out there on the trail alone I need something clarified first. When I patch the tube, can I just inflate it after the 10 minute drying period, put the tire on and go or do I have to wait up to an hour????

The 10 min wait is the time between when you put the glue on the tire and when you apply the patch. When you press the patch on the glued area of the tube it is bonded instantly. You can pump it up and go. Dont forget to remove the piece of glass or thorn that caused the flat from the tire before you reinstall the tire, or you will be repairing another puncture 1/2 amile down the road.

This trail is in the middle of nowhere ... there is nowhere to go if I can't get it fixed lol

better be sure to bring a spare tube as well then.
and when removing the glass, nail, whatever from your tire it's a good idea to take your glove off and run it through to catch it, or if you don' wear gloves a sock or something. if you are naked then you are screwed and hopefully you don't cut your hand on a rusty nail.

Spare tube AND patch kit, use the tube first, patch kit for second flat or @ home.

Or, if you carry a spare tube (which you carry right
), fix the tube when you get home. Or when you get you second flat. Or third. Or fourth. Or... Hell with it, I'm going home

I think blowing on the glue to dry it is the wrong thing to do. The volitile solvant in the cement will cause the breath to condense. Fanning it would be beter. When applying the patch try to inflate the tube to the same diameter as it will be in the tire, and that way there will be no stress on the tube once it is in the tire. It is important to roll the patch on firmly once it is a applied. I use the handle of my pocket knife to act as a roller to press it on securely. I don't think many people today carry decent pocket knives. It is a usefull tool for a biker. I use the blade also to spread the glue.

I use self-adhesive ones. Zero problems with them so far so why make a mess with glue?
