Does a Shimano PC 850 SRAM 8 speed chain have an "out" side?

Just installed this chain on a six speed shimano freewheel(LBS recommendation). Could not tell which side to mount towards the outside(or inside). Seems to work fine, but keep wondering.
Thanks.

No, these chains are symmetrical and either side out is fine. There are a few Shimano 10-speed chains that are directional but this isn't one of them.

BTW, it's either a Shimano chain or a SRAM chain but they are two separate makers.

Hillride, thanks for the info and correction on the Shimano vs SRAM maker. I was under the impression that Shimano was the maker and SRAM was the model. Much appreciated.

SRAM is the maker and PC850 is the model.

Simple rule. If chains appear to be symmetrical they are. Asymmetrical chains of either type - specific sprocket side, or specific bike side - are very obvious at a glance.
