seat post tube, steel collar/clamp removal

on one of my lastest collections, the collar/clamp [steel tube frame] for tightening the saddle post was removed [bit of grinding there too, for reasons unknown]

i have a steel clamp on a scrap bike. how can this be removed? i was thinking heating it up with an oxy but.. i don't have one

then spot welding it on to the other bike

I'm not certain of the condition of the top of the seat tube, but I would be tempted to square it up, debur and install a cheap seat post collar (sized for the seat tube OD); no welding required. Just make sure that the slot in the tube is deep enough, or make it so.

it was bent up a bit. i stuck a saddle post in there of the right size and hammered it out

i have spare alloy collars with quick release bolts, but they're too big

im always looking at budget builds... or repairs....hoping someone can enlighten me on removing a steel standard collar one from a scrap bike

I'd use one of your spare alloy collars with a shim of appropriate thickness to match the necessary inner diameter.

omg, i found a scrap frame, the head tube fits over the seat tube, not much to work with but less than 1/2 will be enough, and the collar fits over that, all snug

i suppose i will need to cut a slit on the shim to match the slit on the seat tube and collar too?

thx for the idea

A couple Jubilee ( hose) clamps may do the job .. or you can get a proper seat post clamp band for the diameter of what you have.. dont need the QR lever..

Buy a proper diameter seat tube collar and do it right. They are cheap and the work to jury rig something from another frame will take longer and probably cost more.
