Replacing Chain...

Just got a quick question regarding a chain I want to replace. The current chain I am using is a KMC Z51 1/2" x 3/32" narrow chain. I got seven 7 sprockets 3 chain rings. Can I replace it with a Shimano HG/IG Type? If so which one? Thanks for the response, first time changing chain. Currently has 1500 miles on it.

The widest chain that runs on your freewheel will generally shift better in front. Wider chains are also more reliable and easier to connect. Go to the KMC website and choose the widest 3/32" derailer chain that they make. "Narrow" chains are now the widest chains available, and they work fine on 7 speeds. They're cheaper too, but they are still better for your application.

Use a Sram 8 speed.
