Avoiding cross threading when installing bottom bracket?
This is my first time installing a bottom bracket. I will have all of the necessary tools to do the job and I have some great detailed instructions.
What are some ways of avoiding cross-threading the BB?
Is this my only major thing that could go wrong?
Thanks.

If it does not go in with your fingers, stop*. Thread the drive side in first but not all the way, then thread in the non drive side about two thirds. Now tighten up the drive side and then follow with the non drive side. This will keep the non dirve cup from jamming against the end of the bearing assembly.
On some BBs it helps to loosen the cable guide screw as they are a touch long and contact the bearing assembly.
* You may need to use a tool to thread it in but you get the idea, it should go in with minimum force until reaching the seating point.
