1983 GT Pro

Hi all,

I picked up this '83 GT Pro off of a local facebook bst site. I'm an old roadie, but I knew that this one was pretty nice and I couldn't pass it up. I'm in the process of cleaning it up and I tried to to remove the front rim with no luck. I've removed thousands of rims before, but this one has me stumped. I must be an idiot or completely losing it. My calipers have the axle at 9.07 mm and the fork drop out at 8.34 mm. There is also a spacer with a hex lock behind on both sides. Do you just strong arms these out or is there are special technique for removal? I didn't want to damage the axle with out doing a bit of research.

Humbled,

Greg

Cool bike! The only thing I can think of holding the rim on would be the break pads. They can be a tight fit though, and some you have to pull up and over. The only other thing I can think of is loosing up the spacers, and seeing if you can turn them closer to the hub first.
