i have no idea what your talking about...be a little more specific. when you say "5 spoke" you mean the old school looking rims. dont remember the name but theres a thread all about them. and to answer your question "is anyone gonna help me" your lucky if they do. MOST of us arent "forum junkies" who sit around and wait for people to post new things...ridings better than posting....think the rims you want are "skyway mags"...and there not much less expensive then normal rims-plus their weaker.

he said they were cheaper...but if he needs new wheels than he messed up his so yea streetracer, you should go with a nice pair of wheels so you dont have to replace those shooty mags in the future.

No, he said that he didn't want to spend extra on carbon mags, as opposed to plastic.

ROFTL!

Out of curiousity, any advantages of a composite wheel over spokes? I realize if you damage one, it's pretty much scrap whereas you can re-lace a spoked wheel.

Giant has a neato general use bike that doesn't have conventional spokes: https://snipurl.com/feli
I don't know enough to make a statement like "spokes are dead" but I think it's safe to at least say there are reasonable alternatives.

FYI: I have a 20" wheel folding bike which is why I'm pokin' around the BMX forum... figure I might learna thing or two about components relevant to my bike.

There are no advantages to mag wheels over spoked wheels. You can't true them. If they bend or break, you have to buy a whole new wheel as opposed to just some new spokes, and they're not any lighter than a regular wheel, with no strength gain.

I feel that anyone that buys them is a complete and total fool when there is so much information about why not to buy them.

I do not 'feel' that they suck and are a waste of money - riders have proven over and over again why the DO suck and ARE a waste of money - so people should not buy them.

This is (very strictly speaking) statements specific to my knowledge of bmx specific riding and does not necessarily hold accurate for mt. bikes, road bikes, touring bikes, or kids bikes. It is only accurate for bmx - which is why I posted in this forum.

And to think I was just being sarcastic. It's cold and I don't want to go to work today. Maybe I'll waste a whole day on the forums instead. Maybe not.

Marketing. Luxury and performance in the same sentence. They'll be bought by folks with too many dollars and not enough sense. And stolen by chopper bike builders that recognize the value of that wheelset for choppers. That front wheel would be perfect on some extended forks. Can you get the back wheel in 24"? And what a waste of 4.5 inches of rear travel. That's pretty much bringing "Bob" along for the ride.

Yeah. Winter is like that. No worries though, it will be 100 degrees in time for Christmas.

wow, give it to him with both barrels BMXTRIX.

he's right. mags are good for nothing other than looking different. get yourself a good set of spoked wheels. try to get something with sealed bearings too. if will make your life easier later.
