Sakae SR 170 mm Crank/Cog any good?

Hey guys,i just wanted to ask if the

"Sakae BMX SR 170 mm Crank set and Chain wheel (44-1/8)" is any good, maybe on a scale from 1 to 10 ?
(The gold anodiozed variant)

Also if i were to buy a new one, what is a common/reasonable price?

Thx.

The fact that I've never heard of that says to me that it's not going to be worth my time checking the specs on it.

Sounds very old school to me. Anodized gold? Thought you would have picked up on that one, Beerman.

I'd say $20, and put them on a 1980s bike, otherwise they're trash.

Sakae makes low to midrange components for at least a handful of road/track applications. I know the entry-level Bianchi track and CX bikes come with Sakae cranks/drivetrains, It's basic stuff, not super crappy but not nearly as nice as the Surly stuff and nowhere near Dura Ace or Record components. Having never seen their BMX line I would rate their track components about a 3 or 4 out of 10.

Hey Guys thanks for the replies.. this is what Sheldon Brown the man has to say on Sakae:

"Sakae Ringyo/S.R.)
Formerly the #2 Japanese crank manufacture behind Sugino; currently #2 behind Shimano. Also a major maker of handlebars and stems. Laprade seatpost"

As for Surly, i love their stuff but i thought they only made Chainrings and they don't do Cranks.. or am i misinformed?

I don't think Surly makes a full crankset, just all sorts of odds and ends and framesets for fixied and singlespeed.

I think Surly does make some SS cranks. Or they've put their name on someone's, anyway.
