Your local bike shop

The bike shop that I bought my bike at a couple years ago went out of business. The shop that bought thier inventory doesn't sell ANY BMX race bikes, just a BUNCH of freestyle/jumping. I'm having a hard time believing that no one wants a light fast race bike. It's not like the guys I see racing aren't jumping 15 foot doubles on their race bikes. And the ideal that it has to be one or the other seems strange. There is a shop closer to the track that sells race bikes, but it's practically a guy selling bikes out of his garage. It's a small shop with only a few bikes. Is it just my area, or has BMX racing dwindeled everywhere. Try to find a 1 1/8 tire for a mini bmx, good luck.

In case you haven't noticed, most every freestyle bike out there these days is nothing more than a race bike with 990 mounts, thicker dropouts, 14mm axle slots, and an extra 1/4lb.

Get used to it, because the vast majority of riders don't race, and shops aren't going to carry what isn't going to sell.

I'm sure you are right. But why don't people race anymore?

There's not much to miss about Hayward.
