How do u do manuals?

i have had a lot trouble trying to learn how to manual. anyone have any tips?

lean back on the bike and um use the brakes to help so you dont fall, i suck at them anyways

I just got them dialed in real good recently, so ill do my best to help. but be warned i suck at explaining stuff.

what i do is bend my knees just a little bit and lean back behind the seat. Lean back enough so that your front is at a height you can balance well at. also, really think about what your doing, if your front is dropping lean back more, if its tipping lean forward more.

learn to pump the bike. its somethin that i just caught myself doing one day. learn how straigtening and bending ur legs effects the bike.

n no u dont need brakes. i ride brakless and i can out manual everyone i know.

and i no u dont want to hear it but practice practice n practice some more. i learned by trying to manual and as soon as the front dropped, get ready and do it again. it only took me a month or two.

try watching some videos or other riders it helps give you an idea of what u have to do.
i hope this helps.

if not just hate me like everyone else :D

keep the front tire off the ground, keep the rubber side down.

Not a flame, but what a stupid fukkin' question.

Manuals aren't a trick - it's not like something you learn in a day.

It's a skill. It takes weeks, months, even years to get it down and even when you have it perfect, you can still do more with it to take it further.

I'm so sick of riders asking how to do manuals and bunnyhops. They both are things you pick up easily just by practicing regularly. Weeks and months. I learned bunnyhops I realized LONG before I started riding bmx because I would jump off small curbs and see how far I could go. Then I found that bunnyhops were the same dang thing, but not curb to launch off of.

Manual, lean back, keep front tire up, try not to use brakes, don't pedal. VERY EASY to do a foot - very difficult to do 50 feet anytime you want.

I can do them for about 25-30ft. For me I dont have breaks. I use my legs. Its kind of hard to explain but i kind of kick my legs out when the frontwheel is going down and suck my legs closer in when its up to high. Also, for me, I learned dork wheelies first. It gives you some sort of a sense of how to do wheelies without peddling.

It's called pumping, the thing you are doing with your legs.

well i just go about jogging pace then suddenly just lean back with alot of force then just try to balance, im not very good at it, and you could feather your brakes to stable your self, believe me its hard at first

and also...i just figured something out....by turning the wheel just a little bit.,....i can hold their and ''pump'' longer than having the bars straight.. so try turning either left or right and pump......don't be afraid to move arounf alot...it might look sorta dorky but do it anyway....And Practice...anybody could sit in front of their computer all day...and learn the exact technique of manualing.but untill you actually do it....your won't be able to get 2 feet....i ride with no brakes also...some guys do some guys don't

Manuals can be done all by themselves on flatland, or can be combined with about a million different street tricks- including grinds, manualling through jumps, to any lip trick, and across platforms... The possibilities are endless... but remember- most riders learn this trick because they practice it EVERY time they ride. For some it comes easier- for others it is a long slow process.

Learn this trick on flatland first- something flat- not uphill or downhill. If you don't have the 'perfect' surface a slight downhill will be fine.
Ride at a medium speed holding the bars and standing normally on the pedals.
Be level over the bike- arms slightly bent- legs slightly bent.
Snap your butt back behind the seat and keep your arms and legs slightly bent.
NOTE: Bending your arms excessively WILL pull the front wheel up but you will NOT be able to control the manual- this is a HUGE mistake for most beginners.
Your weight should be way back and the front wheel should only be about a foot off the ground... Your body weight acts as a lever to keep the front wheel up.
Keep your eyes focused on a point about 10-20 feet in front of you. Looking STRAIGHT DOWN will throw your balance off.
To control the manual do NOT start throwing your body around. Control is achieved by slightly bending your elbows and knees. This will change where your body is and alter your center of gravity slightly.
To ride out tilt your head slightly forward to shift your weight forward or tap your brakes.
The biggest problem with beginners is NOT getting your body far enough behind the seat to create a stable center of gravity. The other biggest problem is riders throwing their body around to much while trying to balance. The LESS you move your body around the easier manuals will start to become.
