Hey...
Just moved from a fairly diverse terrain (lots of urban/creekbed/college campus type transitions) to a very urban type of terrain (think downtown detroit). Normally I rode more mtb type stuff, but I realize that the move has brought me a new playground to play on, so I'm gonna try and get ahold of a BMX bike, but I realize also that I have no real benchmark for what to look for. I'm going to be doing basic urban type stuff, no big drops or anything, I imagine the extent of my repertoire will be mainly various manuals and some flatlandish stuff with minor jumps/drops. I don't plan on doing any massivetacious jumps/flips, either, thinking about it.
In any case, I'd just like to know some real basic things to look for (or look for the absence of)

You used a lot of big words.

But anywho, look at the DK Sixpack, Fit Pro, or Stolen Wrap. It would be much more helpful if you told us your height and weight...

Thanks for the reply, learn new things every day! (sorry for the word attack, it was late and I'd been up reading stupid crit. theory stuff all night.)

I'm roughly 5'9, 165lbs (~1.6m, ~75kg, off the top of my head), more legs than arms: I normally ride a 53cm road, and 16/17" mtb, if that helps any.

Well, since you say you are more legs than arms, then 20.75 should do you good... maybe even 21, but 20.5 isn't going to kill you, you'd get used to it eventually.

Ha, yeah, especially 'massivetacious.'

Thanks again for the help measurement-wise. What are some things to look for used-wise? Are particular types of steel (hi-ten/chrmo/etc.) better/worse than others? I've already got some tires, bars, brake levers (I know people feel different ways about brakes, I just have to have them,) brakes, and I'm thinking I might just build one up as a project, too.

I suspected as much, that's been the main unifying component in all of the bikes I currently own (though scattered they may be, an '84 miyata 512 comp SS, '03 KHS Solo-One, Kona Cinder Cone circa 90-something.)
