A little help????

I;m thinking about getting my son a BMX bike for Christmas. Can you guys give me some info on what I need to look for? It will be used for some racing and riding street. I know one bike can't do it all but is there some bikes that are decent at both. Thanks a lot

How much do you want to spend, and how good is he? He'll wreck a race bike on the street, but can still be competitive on the track with a more sturdy bike, and perhaps a 2nd set of wheels.

He races XC MTNbike so this is just something to beat around on. He'll race it some and ride street on it too. I don't want to be fixing his mtnbike again this year after riding street so I thought I'd put him on a 20" bike.
