trails...

so we started rebuilding these really old overgrown trails.....we'be been rebuilding stuff and makeing it all purrty. anyone have any suggestions on how to keep them in good condition and also make sure that "we" keep them...as opposed to the whole secret getting out and having poeple come and mess wiht em....>>>>>>>>the biggest trails around were just bought by the county and have gotten disgusting cuz there like famous now and we dont want that to happen....any suggestions

p.s. If you want location pm me.

make people build!

A gas powered weedwacker will keep the edges clear, riding will keep the trail clear, and leaving anything that hides the trails will keep unkowing riders away.

If you want people to not know about it, just don't talk about it. If nobody hears about it, nobody will know it's there. At least thats how it is in the Hick Town of pinckney.

queensrider86 11-09-05 08:06 PM

just chill there, and don't let other people ride unless they help maintain them

lyledriver 11-09-05 08:15 PM

Don't offer the location in PMs.

Brian 11-09-05 08:30 PM

Don't post them on the internet. Seriously though, ride them and the weeds can't grow.

i you need to find a remote-ish location. and not in anyone elses neighborhood. i dont know if it is like that were you live but certain circles have their turf around here. and if anyone comes back there dont be a total a$$ to them or most likely they will wreck them on you. like ex said ride them frequently and they should be fine. and you need to do some minor stuff sometimes. make it fast, a good burm or two always is fun. rythem sections are alot of fun a little hard to get them perfect though.

mude 11-09-05 09:52 PM

i know how to maintain trails...i've been building them for the last 3 months and been riding trails for about a year.....i meant more of suggestions on how to keep them "ours" as opposed to having random people come.....like i mean...i want people to ride there....its confusing...anyone that actually builds trails should have some sort of good idea what im talking about.

Brian 11-09-05 09:53 PM

It's public property. Show respect to anyone else that uses them, and hope they do they same for you.

i have 2 sets of trails(none now) one of them was run down by little kids, yea sounds pathetic but then they go and get their pearents and yea. the other one became a hot spot for people to get drunk/high. so yea we kinda didnt want to get involved in that.

there isnt really much you can do, scare off the younger kids. the older ones, make freinds with them or they will most likely abuse your trails.(unless you are the older kid)

sooo.....basically u want people to know but not people that will screw the sh*t up, right? and u wanna hide it so its not to noticable....thats the spot im in right now....so keep some extra leaves around and take the dead trees and grass that u cut down or cleared out from the area that have already fallen and take the trees and throw them around the perimeter and some in the center of the trails[next to the jumps] and then take the leaves and grass and spread them over the jumps when u leave....hopefully it'll work...........i built my trails back behind some picker/thorn bushes and took alot of dead trees and then spread them out like i said and threw leaves over the jumps for camo

thats actually a pretty goood idea...teh only problem is we have one pointed shove and a broken flathead shovel. so moving the leaves and stuff is a pain. I hate fall...it makes me sad winter is coming

hffmanRythmRydr 11-12-05 12:05 PM

my friends and i this winter are takin a crappy dyno and studdin/slimeing the tires so the dont leak and get grip and then cleanin out our trail and seeing if that'll work...lol we'll anything to ride even tho its stupid

hffmanRythmRydr 11-12-05 12:06 PM

n maybe u could use like a rake or a snow shovel?

mude 11-13-05 12:07 AM

when you give me the money to buy a rake or a snow shovel i'll use one

i just bought shovels for the trails....

random fact:
Craftsman shovels have warrantys....hahaha

bmx handyman 12-14-05 02:40 AM

its not that bad having people come and enjoy your trails

bmx handyman 12-14-05 02:41 AM

they will eventually find out anyway!!

mude 12-15-05 11:52 AM

not true.

premiumbmx2005 12-15-05 02:29 PM

your tires dont leak, its beacause its just really cold out. just pump up your tires above the psi rating. you also dont need to stud your tires, just shovel your trails a little and get knobby tires.

hffmanRythmRydr 12-15-05 02:35 PM

yeah thats a good idea....n i was gonna slime them so no dirt would get in but ill give ur idea a try

Brian 12-15-05 02:46 PM

Maxx Daddy's for winter.

premiumbmx2005 12-15-05 03:19 PM

i use tires w/ even bigger treads, there usually wal-mart style

dirtjumper101 12-15-05 04:52 PM

make sure the up and down ramps very hard before you ride them, don't let little kids roll over them, dont let motocross riders ride them, hide them deep in the bush and hope no dickheads come along and think it would be fun to destroy them......
