well i dunno about the ret of you but im sick of seeing what about this bike and that bike n this or that.

so i want to attempt to solve his dilema.

so bmxz, what do you:
-plan on doing on your bike
-what is your price range
-how tall are you aproximatly (for tt sizing)
-what are your preferences
-Straight cable, gyro, or brakless
-no pegs, 1 peg, 2 pegs, 3 pegs, 4 pegs?

and to try to keep it all in here becuase it is really hard to figure out what your looking for when you have like 2 million posts.

Heres a few tips for when your choosing your bike:
-Make sure the bike mmets your specifications and not other peoples, becuase they always try to encourage you to follow thier settup.
-Make sure your bike has 3pc cranks.
-Make sure your bike has 14mm axles and sturdy rims
-this is often overlooked when younger people pick bikes (atleast around here), but make sure the frame is all chromoly. hi-tens steel is garbage, might as well have a bike made up of water pipes.


If you go to danscomp (www.danscomp.com), and go to the sale section, and from thier go to complete bikes you will find many 2005 left over models at a marked down price.


And for all you other forum members who are going to be saying im stateing the obvious or anything of the sort, im just trying to help someone just starting bmx. you didnt always know everything about bmx and i bet thats the situation hes in now.

My little bro knows what bike to get.He might get the DK Six Pack, Dk Four Pack, or the Dk Dayton.Its just a matter of is the money worth the parts on the bike.The DK Six Pack we know its worth it but for the The Dayton and The Four Pack is it worth the money.Thats that only problem.Oh and he wants a black bike i know color shouldnt matter but it comes to the performance of the bike but he would want a black bike.Like the DK Four Pack or the Dayton

well you did over do it a bit, but as for those bikes i would wait and save up just a little bit more and get the 4 pack. it is in the middle f the prices of the threee bikes. you will also be better off in the long run. the rims on it should hold up fine. it has an integrated headset which is nice. it also has a cassette hub, so someday down the line when your better you can lower the gearing size without having to go out and buy a cassete. not to mention it has fairly small gearing for a complete as is, 33/12. it also has 14mm axles and i havent even bent one of those yet. it also has a euro bb that is sealed.

its definatly a good bike for the money.

and i think it was you asking if you can use a park bike for street or a street bike for park or something like that. as long as you dont get a race bike, youll be able to use your bike for just about every style riding, except for maybie flat. I use the same bike street, park, and trails.

and about your final assembly after shipping, just let a mechanic at a bike shop do it. where you are young and just starting bmx, and you dont know what your doing, it probably wouldnt be smart.

my bike has one peice cranks, and 10mm axles. then again, i'm not supposed to beat the cranks, or jump. its a flatland bike.

He is mostly gonna do street and freestyle.

His budget is about up to $500.

Brakes- Whatever works fine.What exactly is gyro.Is it better.

Pegs- Posibbly 4 but will buy them later.

i would reccomend the DK General Lee becuase of its tt lenght of 20" thats smaller for your short bro...and its lighter stock weight...so he can move it around...and its really affordable and will leave lots of his money aside for later purchases like a flat tire...or new grips...or even a disaster like a bent-beyond-repair wheel or...and iPOD...haha

Check the times - I'm pretty sure I posted here first, then lectured. But it still holds true. Someone that doesn't know what a gyro is doesn't need anything more than the most basic bike. And brakes - the kid is 11, anything with a bit of rubber on the pads will stop him. We're talking about a bike for an 11 year old that's new to BMX - it doesn't really matter what he gets. If he's into it, he'll figure out what upgrades to do later. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Don't waste a wad of cash on your first bike, as you won't even know what you want from it until you've been riding a while.

I'm not here to be popular. You're getting a BMX for an 11 year who's totally new to the sport. As long as it's from a bike shop, it will be fine. You've asked stupid questions, without following up on things. You don't know what a gyro is, how can you know if he needs one? How important are brakes going to be? You asked about 3 piece cranks, but you didn't ask what the differences between 1 piece and 3 piece are, nor did you ask if it matters for the kind of riding he'll be doing. You commented about pegs, yet a kid that small probably won't be able to get a bike with 4 pegs off the ground to grind anything. Blindly asking questions without qualifying them is just annoying. Not asking for clarification of answers shows you don't even appreciate out time.

What have you learned about buying a BMX for an 11 year old, since you've been on here? Show us that you've actually paid attention.

Answer that before you decide to criticize my responses.

Ok fine you need a 100% 4130 cro-mo frame or else its junk(includes the forks and handlebars to be cro-mo).Need 3 piece cranks with sealed bearings. Thats pretty much it.

We're making some progress here. Do you know why need need a full cro-mo frame/fork/bars? And why you want 3 piece over 1 piece?

any other frame we have right now with the technology wont hold up on a jump/s.or they can make frames that will hold really good but it wont be light.So cro-mo is a really good frame that is strong and pretty light.

Cro-mo is stronger than hi-ten steel. Important for big guys, and important for jumping. Same with 3 piece cranks. Stronger than 1 piece, with less maintenance. But if you're an 11 year old noob, it's not really going to matter. He won't break either.
