I guess I should have put in my first post that this was about obscure companies. But we can list the survivors too.

Anyone remember when Haro was just a guy that raced, and not a brand?

Tioga (still around but no longer into bmx as much)

Tioga Comp III tires - still the top racing tire after more than 20 years.

Yes! I miss being able to get 26" Comp IIIs, though - one of my favorite rear mtb tires.

I miss KKT pedals, too.

I had Z rims, And the plastic chainring too. And the brakes levers. Before that I had Motomags. So cool.

Here's a few off the top of my head (I'm afraid I may be revealing my advanced age here...)

GJS (frames by racer Jeff Utterback and his dad and brother) Had a unique head tube area, the top and down tube joined at the top of the head tube, and a thinner tube ran horizontally from the bottom of the head tube into the down tube with yet another thin tube further back, angled between the top and down tubes.

JMC made nice frames, especially in smaller sizes, they sponsored a lot of the fastest little guys (8-11 year olds) when I was racing.

Jeff Bottema made some sweet forks.

JAG - bikes from the same company that made Mongoose, as I recall.

Zeronine made ugly number plates and numbers, Haro was always cooler.

And 25 years later I still have a sore a** from my old UNI seat. a plastic seat bonded (no rails or adjustment hardware) to a fibreglass post, uncomfortable but the lightest setup you could get for racing. You could buy padded covers for them, but then you gained back some of that weight you lost.

Damn I miss my old P.K. Ripper....

The owner of JAG drove a big fat, 12 cylinder Jaguar - the Austin Power's one. Sweet!

I remember bob haro, i saw his son once at a vans freestyle/skateboard show in '84 with woody itson, and martin aparijo.
