I still like the title, and it doesn't mean that we can't refer new people to either sticky, or both .

Although some people are slow on the uptake [mods you can delete this if you think it's a personal attack] photothug123! But you are English, so we have to make allowances.

I don't know, bookmark it and post the link for them if you want? Some forums are ridiculous with the stickied threads on top taking up most of the page, I don't think we need to follow their example...

Nope, no sticky for this, we already have one. But I'm going to volunteer Kinetik to send a PM with a link to every BMX noob. There's no way to automatically do it.

The forum guidelines are right up there next to 'user control panel' . If a person will not heed the information when it is so readily available I can feel little sympathy for them and have little inclination to nurse them along. I have messed up a couple of times, once off-color and once a tad too sarcastic. Both times Mods PMed me and set me straight. Thanks.

Are you calling me a slacker? Does this mean I have to expand my horizons AGAIN?

There is a reason they died and people stoped posting in them. So unless you have a really good reason...don't.
I do not entirely agree with this point for a reason related to something that happened on a different forum. One recent December we had a problem with an office computer. Early in the start-up a black screen appeared saying some file deep in the system was corrupted or missing. I searched the Internet for solutions. A thread begun and concluded in the previous July told about various difficult procedures to find, copy, and transfer that file from another system; but even then the results were not predictable or guaranteed safe. Almost by accident we discovered our occurrence of the problem was caused by a defective keyboard. I thought that was useful and helpful information for anyone experiencing this problem at any point in the future, so I posted our experience to this forum. Some self-styled expert in all things flamed me because the thread had been active six months earlier. I responded that good information is timeless and I posted because someone else might have the same problem a few months into the future. A moderator responded to us, told me to post whatever I found useful whenever I wanted to and told my critic to cool it. I could see a similar series of events happening with a cycling problem. To me it seems better to revive an old thread than to begin countless threads covering the same ground.

I do like the suggestion about searching for posts on a similar topic before beginning a new thread.

Why are there suddenly so many posts to this forum about anything but cycling? It seems it would be better to find another forum that deals in those topics.

A great many of the posters in the BMX forum do not post anywhere else. This is a tight knit group, and there have been many problems in the last few weeks with enthusiastic, but troubled souls causing a few...problems.

It's not that the disinterring of an old thread is so bothersome, but that many people want to know the same thing:

What is the best BMX bike for a new BMX rider?
What is the best BMX bike for a new BMX rider, and for X dollars?
How do I [insert trick of your choice].

This is why this particular thread exists. It's spring, and people are getting energised about riding. They're asking questions. We like new people, and we want everyone to enjoy riding a bike, whether it's BMX or road, or mountain bike. But we aren't here 24/7, and we can't answer all questions right away.

A lot of the threads which prompted this one have been deleted, for various reasons. Let's just say it's not important why.

Speaking of the off-topic threads, it would really help if we could stop posting threads with just song lyrics, and use one of the threads that's already made for really off-topic stuff like that.

A month... maybe a little longer. It all depends on my next doctor visit which I think is coming up in two weeks.
