My son is interested in BMX and I am clueless
My son is 10 years old and has discovered BMX. He is having a great time and cannot get enough of it. I am trying to figure this whole bike thing out and need some help! We have spent some time at the track and I have asked several people about the bikes their kids are on. It seems like Redline and intense are very popular. My son currently has a Redline raid but its not much of a race bike. He said on an Intense Expert XL and the fit looked pretty good.
I guess what I am asking is what should I be looking for in a bike. I have weeded through a bunch on internet info but would like some opinions since I look bikes on craigslist and came across this bike. Its older but it looks nice https://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/bik/2794702952.html Any opinions? Am I on the right track for my son?
Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't race that thing. Its old, and its in too nice of condition. Danscomp has a whole race section now, so you can find the bikes that fit the size/budget requirements, and your son has the choice of color, etc from those that you've narrowed it down to.

Talk to the dads at your local track. They're always helpful... Oh, and buy used for awhile. There is a constant flow of bikes, parts etc coming off of kids who are growing. Good luck. BMX rules...

definitely go used to start. since he's only 10, he's going to outgrow frames/cranks/wheels for the next few years. see if anyone is selling anything at the track or lbs to get started. Find something that he's comfortable on that also fits your budget. since he's just getting into it, you don't want to sink too much money in.
