I took it today as well. I thought the multiple choice was pretty hard but the essays were super easy.

Haha. Most people thought the opposite of me, but I guessed on pretty much all of the multiple choice. I think I wrote the three best essays of my life.

If you took AP Bio, I thought the multiple choice was really easy and that the essays were extremely hard. Did you know what cephalization was? No one in our school had any idea what it was.

I never took the tests back in high school, although I did take a few of the classes. I just got through observing at a middle school, and I student teach in the fall. The differences between some of the regular classes and the AP classes are funny and a little disturbing. Any of you guys in Academic Decathlon?

My knowledge of Latin and biology finally come in handy in the BMX forum! Who would have thought?

Cephalization refers to the process of 'tending toward having a head' (hey, no wisecracks out there!).

That is to say, organisms during [evolution] tend to concentrate nervous tissue toward one end, which results in the organism having a forward end (the head). The result of having a head usually results in the organism having bilateral symmetry. That's important to BMXers, because it's really useful to have arms and legs . Helps with balance and all that...

Haha. Yeah, but that's a bit of a problem for 15 and 16 year-old kids who have extremely little knowledge of Latin and have never learned about it before.

Also, apparently for one of my essays, I wrote about the wrong region. For the change over time essay, I wrote about China. Not good.

I learned it the hard way, by trying to figure out what all those big fancy names on my houseplants meant. I now have a huge dictionary which lists nothing but botanical terms . Scary.

Oops. What region was under discussion, instead?

That could be it too!

I am reasonably certain that I did not include the word 'orgasm' in my reply, though .

The region in question was Southeast Asia. China is definitely close enough.

As I haven't taken the test, what was the actual question?

It was a change over time essay and one of the options to write about was Southeast Asia.

You should remind everyone that in England, most people are finished with school and on to a job at the age of 16...only people with money can afford to go further.

Next up--what is a public school?

Whaaaaat. So in England is 16 like being 18 here? As in you are considered an adult and can sign your own paperwork, and make important decisions?
